There are quite a few websites that claim to allow you to download video from youtube, and they do work for a while, but then youtube changes its file structure or something and they stop working! I wanted a way of downloading music videos to my own pc, so i could watch them with friends in the winter evenings :)

There’s one software maker who i found specialises in making software applications to allow you to rip, record, convert and save all types of streaming video, but especially youtube flv video, and that maker is Applian Technology.

I didn’t necessarily want to take a heavy-ish laptop with me, as well as dvd discs, power supplies etc etc, so I decided to just take an ipod touch instead. Problem was how to get the dvd movies onto the ipod without spending years doing it, and without filling the ipod after about 2 movies!
